  • Medicare covers acupuncture only for chronic low back pain, with set limits and under a qualified provider's supervision. Ask us what applies to you.

How fees work

  • Insurance and plans

We are out of network, so we don't bill health plans directly. Some plans reimburse acupuncture when you send in a receipt, and others don't cover it. Whether Medicaid covers acupuncture depends on your state and your plan, so ask us and ask your plan.

    • Employer and marketplace plans: ask whether they reimburse acupuncture

    • Medicaid: it depends on your state, so ask us

  • If you pay yourself

Most visits are paid at the time of service. We agree on the fee for your first visit and for each visit after it before the first needle, and the front desk can tell you by phone, text or WhatsApp. HSA and FSA cards can often be used: ask your plan administrator.

  • A receipt to send to your plan

Your plan may reimburse some of the itemized receipt, called a superbill, that we give you after every visit, and your plan decides. Before you send it, ask your plan:

    • Is there an acupuncture benefit?

    • How many visits does it allow?

    • Is there a copay or a deductible?

    • Do I need a referral?

  • An estimate in advance

If you pay without insurance, we give you a written estimate before your visit. Ask for it when you book.

  • Checking your benefits

Because we are out of network, we can't check your benefits for you. Call your plan before your first visit and ask the questions above.

  • What the first visit includes

A first visit takes about an hour and a half: a conversation, a treatment and a plan. We share its fee with you in advance, as above.
